Some samples of the new Panasonic Lumix 100-300 Lens with the GH1 & GH2 camera bodies. All were shot in raw and converted with Lightroom 3.3, with Auto Tone and minor Fill Light adjustment. Sharpening was turned off when the files were exported to 90% quality full size JPG files. Images were shot in 16:9 aspect ratio and with no cropping in the presentation.
While the last 5 shots (0047-0058) were taken handheld, all were shot with tripod & 2 sec timer under sunny but quite windy condition. The wind was quite strong at times that might challenge the IS of the lens.
General non scientific observation: the new 100-300 lens is quite fast in focusing and pretty sharp in the center. While this is not a lens for shooting birds-in-flight, it should be quite adequate for general outdoor usage with reasonable lighting. The IS seems to work quite nicely especially with the GH2 body.
