Message from Tara Conant
For many years I have been a professional photographer and photographic artist based in Western Massachusetts. I hold a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography from Bard College.
On this web site I have posted several diverse portfolios of my work. My background is in fine art photography, but I have also done work in editorial and commercial photography which is displayed here. Some of my work is varied in subject, theme and content ranging from stock photography, photojournalism, landscapes to long term documentary studies. Several areas here on this site include: Commercial photography weddings, portraits, business, stock and personal photography (street images, nature and the Las Vegas Series). Some bodies of work are not displayed on this web site, and can be seen by appointment.
Recently, I was awarded a Massachusetts Cultural Council Grant for a documentary series I have been working on entitled 'Sites'.
Currently I teach photography at local colleges in Western Massachusetts. My work has widely exhibited throughout the USA, and published in various publications. In addition to teaching, I also work as a freelance photographer and own a photographic studio.

ArtistStatement: Las Vegas
The Las Vegas images are from an on going series I began a few years ago. At first with this body of work, I was trying to show the dichotomy of the city, the fragments of culture within. But the more often I return to photograph, I find I am capturing emptiness, loneliness and isolation of the place that is advertised as the entertainment capital of the world. As my search continues, and the city grows and changes, I hope to further this in depth personal analysis of ‘fabulous’ Las Vegas.
