I like to believe this is a self-portrait of my father working at his job as technical illustrator. Walt Waggoner's artistic talent was handy for the many three-dimensional drawings that he was called upon to create. When he retired, he brought home a drawing board and stand similar to the one in this illustration. The family discovered at his retirement party that Walt was known as the office prankster. His co-workers told of how they had to protect their work from him, as he would often sketch characters doing funny things on their drawings if they left the room.

Tom, I used overhead lighting. It was tricky. In some cases, a little photoshopping helped with lighting issues.

Hey Ron, are you using a light table to photograph these drawings? Overhead light, under drawing light ? they all seem well digitized using a camera
