Wendy,
I was just admiring your Maine Coon photos. Love the red tabby - we are getting one in October. Previously had a brown tabby. The photo Ctl-Atl-Del is classic. I have one I took and showed my vet. Our cat walked on the keys hitting Ctl-Alt-> on my laptop. Result was screen image rotated 90deg and a bugger to recover.

hello Wendy thanks for your comment captions are easy for me I used to be in direct sales .so when you can't think of anything to say you don't sell .I entered a competition in the local newspaper, the picture I entered was called "nature has a habit of looking beautiful" my daughter sent me a text saying it was cheesy.my reply it was the difference between winning and losing , I'm happy to say I won .regards Chris
PS all the best for the new year

Wendy,

You have such a good eye for composition, color, and interesting subjects. You can't shoot the image until you recognise it and you see and recognize very well. I was traveling in Colorado with my wife once, long ago, and I made a u-turn in the highway. She asked,"what are you doing?" I said, "I'm going back to shoot something I saw." "Where," sne asked. And I said,"about two or three miles back." The image I got turned out to be one of my favorites. Where am I going with this? I don't think you would have missed it when you passed.

I wonder what you would do with Costa Rica. I know it would be very different from what I did with it.

Thanks for sharing all your great work.

Cliff...Bedford, Texas

Hi Wendy,

Many thanks for popping back to see our Maine Coons. They are really growing now and I MUST post some more pictures of them.

Yes, you are quite right about Maine Coons and water, some of them love it and splash away for ages. Jefferson is such a boy and likes nothing more than jumping in a puddle (especially when his sister Delta goes by).

Keep up the postings

kind regards

Barry :-)

Loved this website and the pictures. Was looking at some of the comments and messages. I was born in the Blythe, CA hospital in 1938. I lived in Desert Center for three years from '38 to '42. My mom and dad both worked there, mom in some of the small cabins they had for rent and my dad cooked in the kitchen of the restaurant. My mom and dad worked for Stanley Ragsdale that is mentioned in your guestbook and they also knew his dad, Steve Ragsdale, who was a prospector of sorts. Anyway, used to have an old picture of the gas station with the sign with the frying pan over the fire on the picture. That was many years ago.

How often do you go to Mexico to shoot? Any favorite locales? I've always wanted to take a photo trip, but don't know diddly about MX. After all the travelling I've done you'd think I'd have been-there and done-it, too.

Hi, Wendy! This is a return visit, after you visited my gallery -- today? It's nice to find a kindred soul, who loves black and white. I can tell you do, especially in your Europe and Cayumaca galleries. In the Europe gallery I especially appreciated Venice 3, Tuscan Scene, Paris (all), Vienna 1 & 2 -- and it seemed to me that you must have many more photos from that trip that you could work on and post here.

Interesting to see your pictures of Lhasa and Chengdu. I'm going to China, Tibet, and Hong Kong in September, expecting lots of photo opps. You had many people, and especially faces. Makes me think that people are willing to be photographed. Anyway, nice work! Let's see more Europe one of these days.

Hallo Wendy,

Thank you for your visit to my gallery and the nice comments you gave. Sorry for the strange language I left on your gallery about Mojacar (did you notice it?)leaving out all kinds of letters, especially the "k" and "l", but that had to do with the crashing of my keyboard yesterday. I have a new one now. I can see that above all you like detailed shots which express the atmosphere of a place and that specialty is the strenght of your pictures indeed.

TKS for the beautiful pictures taken with that famous 28-135 lens... I purchased the Rebel last week and wanted a better lens than the orinal and searched the internet looking for a few good sites that had reviews of lenses and I found some exceptional sites.
One of the lenses that stuck out from the crowd was this one, i will purchase one this weekend after viewing your wonderful pictures, I am going to look at your photos once in awhile to get ideas on compositions

I enjoyed your comparison between the UZI and the 300D. I too have gone the Canon route as a replacement for the beloved UZI. It looks like your tele is the 75-300 IS. How do you like it. I'm considering purchasing it or the Sigma 70-300 APO.

I have nothing to add really as images are outstanding and so many already expressed it.
I'm just curious to understand what kind of computer processing, if at all, do you add, other then normal leveling, etc.
Keep the good work,
Danny

Wendyo, I found everything in your photo is in some kind of order. Subjects are so obvious and compositions are balanced. Simple and fresh. I really enjoy looking at each of them. Brian

In looking at your work I am reminded of the line from TS Eliot's work,

Let us go then you and I when the evening is spread out against the sky....

Your work takes us a on a fascinating journey.

Hallo Wendy,
Your pictures are great. Not only do you have an eye for photographic details and lines, but your landscapes are suberb too, idem your portraits. Its rare to have such a broad talent.

Wendy, first of all, your photographs are simply outstanding. I just had a quick go but when I saw the thumbs I decided to make you my first photographer here who's going to be on my favorites list.
And the other thing is to thank you for your nice words in my gallery

Wonderful galleries, Wendy. Certainly inspirational. Thank you for posting the link to the 26 things. While I'm certainly no photographer, it was the most fun I'd had with a camera in a long time. Being strapped at home with 4 little ones, leaves very little to the imagination, but I was certainly surprised to "see" different things in what I see every day.

Thank you.

Infrared advise needed
I have a new Canon A70 camera. The filter I am using is a Tiffin #87 filter. It is black, and sees only IR light.
The results I am getting are very Infrared, indeed, but the focus is crap. How is it your pics are so sharp? I know the G1 does great IR...but still.....
Could it be the filter I am using is too much for the camera? I am going to get a r72 filter also.
Any ideas on how to focus? What do you do?

Hi Wendy,

My friend Julian directed me to your gallery - We were having this heated arguement over lunch whether digital or manual photography is better - though no photographer myself I am predisposed to manual - however on seeing your photos I am forced to change my opinion and admit with a eye for frame and a mind for composition the camera becomes secondary.

Beautiful work - I am yet to see most of the images but will browse through - nice to see you do lot of travelling - I am a bit of traveller myself and have some photos from my latest trip at www.pbase.com/arindam_bhatta. Have a look if you have time

Keep the images coming

Wendy,

Your gallery begets emotion. The light, aspect, contrast and composition show considerable ...umm. Subjects unfold as environment and habitat. Reliving Tibet deluged my feeble brain with memories of kindness of repairs and resupply, depleting competitive local resources; some tucked in image corners, the shadow/sun contrast punctualizing anew the need balance. The radiant sun of Spain envelopes, sucking into ambient & beckoning edifice doors. Cherishing travel respite in depicted San Diego home anchorage, thanks,

Russ :)

Wendy,

Thanks for your kind words about my work. Previously, I've been watching your excellent work. Your photos are really great.
Really Spain is a beautiful country, and I still discover new places on it as I move inside for the many different regions and landscapes that Spain has.
Looking forward new photos from you.

Hi Wendy,

Great Spain pictures ... I just had a feeling that more fantastic pictures are on its way when I first saw your 'early pictures', and I am right! Keep the coming.

If I may quote, E.Erwitt who said,
"To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." - Elliott Erwitt
then truly, your art of observation, and the way you see them ... is a gift, and a gift that you have kindly shared though your pictures.

Regards.

perhaps in the galleries, "Tibet" should be corrected as "Tibet, China". I like to visit Tibet with 2 or 3 people but the altitude worries me. Did it take long for you to get used to the thin air?

Wendy, Terrific photographs! You are a great photographer. I take my hat off to you. You should find a publisher and/or a sponsor, National Geographic maybe? You are outstanding. I will be back to study your work more thoroughly when I have a little more time. You must select good titles or sub-titles to enhance your portraits, it will add to the mood of the photograph. You also have a fantastic backdrop for your work, ancient and historic China and its scenes. Your pictures with titles could make beautiful reading, especially for future generations. mbplee

Wendy, looked at some of your photos and really like them - well composed and tack sharp. Three Hats, Lobos, many others.

See mine at www.robert-harrington.com/photos, also www.pbase/robthrr. These were also taken at the Vista Hot Rod show Aug. 4th. (The stamp of Aug. 1 was because the clock in camera was off for some reason.) (Beware, these were taken to demonstrate the S2 Pro, and the size of the originals is 4256x2848 pixels and about 4.6 MB each.)

My email address is robthrr@cox.net. It would be nice to hear from you.
