You have some very nice images here Tony, and I love the variety of subjects. Not as many bird photos as I thought you might have though, and what there is I would prefer to see slightly larger (I now upload everything at 800 pixels max dimension unless it is a pano)and less tightly cropped (e.g. the Jackdaw and Barn Owl). The image quality is outstanding. I would also like to see some "tech" info with each shot (lens, aperture, shutter and ISO).

Hi Tony, I hope that you enjoyed you visit to my galleries as much as I have enjoyed yours. I appreciate the way in which you view your subjects, then giving each shot that little extra care before clicking the shutter.
woody22-Jan-2007 05:03
tony thanks for looking for the positive comments on my Mallard Gallery.(http://www.pbase.com/woody/birds__mallards ) as to the tight crop, birds in flight dont always end up in the middle of the frame, this one was leaving the frame, hence the tight crop. Enjoyed wandering through you wonderful galleries..thanks for sharing.

Earlier you visited my husband's website "Smartpix", so that's how I traced you... Interesting variety of categories and pictures you have here! Good quality, nice! Excellent choice of equipment too. Keep on the good work!

I'm new to PBase & I was admiring your stormy weather photos (first saw them on DP review) and they inspired me to go out and and photograph along the seafront of Brighton in similar conditions with the same set up - please understand I do mean inspired as opposed to copy!

I photographed the sea by Palace pier and further along towards Shoreham. By comparison my images were extremely 'flat'. It looked as if they had almost been taken through a window. The detail in the sea and the marina in your images is esquisite. I was wondering if you could share how you achieved this? Was is post processing? Do you use custom settings in the camera (currently I use settings I picked up here on this forum for portraits, described as Anthony's Method. They are fantastc for portraits but maybe not for stormy weather)?

My images did not ude the entire histogram - just a section of mid-grays in the middle. Could this be the problem?

Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
Jason

By the way great PBase gallery

Hi Tony:

I see that you now have the Nikon D200 and the 200-400mm VR lens (plus the 1.7x Nikkor TC). You have already put the combination to good use. The pheasant shot taken with this equipment is simply terrific. I also greatly enjoyed the gorilla gallery and your various bird and wildlife galleries. Keep up the good work! Also, thanks for dropping by my site and for the very kind comments.

Tony, Thanks for your comments on my site - sorry to hear about your scope! Your photos are great - a bit more variety than just the wildlife. Cheers Matt
