Another rare visitor to our area. It has been in the Ottawa region since early June though sometimes 'disappears' for several days.
It was found this day by Hank Vander Velde who quickly shared his find with many in the photography and birding communities. Soon dozens of people gathered along the edge of the park to observe and photograph the bird.
For most of the day the egret continued to rest and forage in the bay in spite of the proximity, noise and movement from the onlookers, birders and photographers alike.
Definitely a great opportunity for all. Thank you Hank!!
