Great pictures of the Island. I was there June 2015,brought back lots of childhood memories. Used to stay in a flat in Port Banantyne most summers for about 12 years in a row, Walked form the port into Rothesay most days.
Took the bus tour last summer as i had never been around the Island.

Great Job .Ray Rankin,Gatineau ,Quebec ,Formerely of Easterhouse ( yup) and Cambuslang,Glasgow.

What a most enjoyable time I have spent on this website, the posted photos are wonderful, thank you Zak and to the others who posted.
The name Maitland certainly brings back memories, my name is Gourlay as a wee boy our family lived in 8 Hillhouse Road and then to Roslin Cresent. I live in the central interior of British Columbia, I've been in Canada for 46 years now but the highlight of my trips back to Scotland is my visit to the island.
It's still a dream to retire and move back and spend the rest of my days on Bute, there simply is no other place like it anywhere.
george wightman 11-Mar-2010 21:03

Hey Zak, I left a comment on your 'Bute is Beautiful' album, I love to visit the world via Pbase. Your pics are wonderful, I get a feel of your land and people. America is a land of immigrants, my families came from all over the continent, my wife's from Scotland, England, and Ireland. Some day we hope to actually visit. We wll visit your site often. We appreciate the skill and feel you put into your photo journals of a grand place and people! I've read many of the comments you have received and you deserve the props! Great pics looks like they are makeing some changes around the island (but then again some things will never change)still a beutiful place to look at.
donald shaw 28-Nov-2008 14:08
Keep up the good work this is a fantastic site and I love knowing what is happening on the island especially the Port where I was brought up.Glad to know the Pavillion is getting a makeover. Lots of ex Rothesay guys here in Ayrshire and meet regularly and one subject always brought up is the indoor fitba and the dancing at the Pavillion. You can take the guy out of Rothesay but you cannot take Rothesay out of the guy.

Scotland has the best light - I've never made it to the Firth of Clyde but after going through your galleries I feel like I've spend a day in Bute!

Zak, Thanks for producing this gallery I look at it weekly and all the memories of a great childhood in the 40´s and 50´s flood back, my friends here in Brasil think the Island is beautiful. Hopefully I will be there myself this year to see the real live beauty. I was born on the Island and I try to get back as often as possible so I am on my way as soon as I can, might see you there.
Thanks Dougie Shaw

Hi Zack whats new ?
Michael J. Parkinson21-Jan-2008 17:50
Zak, I just spent an hour or so messing about in your galleries and barely dented them. Your landscapes are superb and so is the photo journalism. If Bute ever appoints an Ambassador it should be you. Finally someone should start polishing up a Darwin Award for Rocketman, it would seem he is due.
Cheers,
Michael

Zak, I love your photo's. I was born in Rothesay but have never returned since I was a baby. Could I be cheeky and ask if it would be possible for you to photograph the house I was born in (assuming it's still there!) I don't travel too well these days so don't know if I'll ever get to visit in person. If it would be possible I will mail you the address.

Brian from Montreal. Excellant pictures. Was in Kilchatten Bay last time during the Stella McCartney wedding. Also, experienced a full 3 weeks of pure sun. Your pictures have really caught the true essence of the land. Some of your images remind me of the east coast of Canada. (Nova Scotia in particular)
