It has been a rush to quickly bring all of my tropical plants outside on the deck back indoors.
We've gone from sweltering 90 degrees - with a heat index of 98 degrees - on October 3rd. (normally July/August weather) to just a high of 45 degree today October 11th. That is below normal. That is late November/December weather. It's currently now down to freezing and dropping; with wind chills in the 20's. Tonight will be a killing freeze. How sad.
Technically, we finally had 8 days of somewhat Fall temperatures. Unfortunately, 6 of those 8 days have also been rained filled. So even though the long, very miserable, severe heat wave finally did break, it's been difficult to get outdoors to enjoy Fall. 2019 has been such an odd year with being very wet and having extreme temperatures in both directions.
The hibiscus were still in bloom when we brought them back inside today. However, their flower size has dropped to be 1/4 of what they were just a week ago. The blooms now look like mini flowers. I've never seen that happen with hibiscus plants before.
