Nothing easy about this shot and I think you captured it very well. The embers burning in the wood is definitely nice. jano

Good idea, Fly. The empty, black area on the left was adding nothing to the composition. I have cropped it out. Many thanks.

Hawt shot.

You might want to consider cropping some of the left side of the image off. This would make it more intense IMHO.

I agree, it is a great shot of a subject that is not easy to successfully capture.

Well done Charlie. Regards Melbob

LOL...heehee, that is a short lens, isn't it? But it is an exceptionally clean lens, and that's to the good. Best Wishes, Traveller

Thanks, Traveller. I couldn't set up a tripod, as the heat was too intense. So I needed the high ISO to get me a shutter speed fast enough for a hand-held shot. In retrospect, I could have tried my longer lens, further back, on a tripod, and saved myself a few singed arm hairs.

Yes, this is a nice capture of a difficult subject....even the high iso seems to have worked out well...was 1600 really necessary? Traveller

Thanks, Nico. My first two batches of shots came out very badly. Then I remembered that during a recent demonstration I had turned the lens to manual focus, and had forgotten to return it to automatic! :-)

Nice! I find fires really difficult to photograph, so in my opinion, you did rather well here! Compliments!
