In the late’70s/early ‘80s, my friend Jimmy and I used to go to Masters Field to watch the elders fly radio controlled planes. At times, one of our dads would drop us off…other times, we’d ride our bikes from West Hialeah. It’s how it was back then.

Guest, Hialeah Middle and Amelia Earhart Elementary are across the street from the old Amelia Earhart Field. The airport was on the east side of LeJeune, the schools are on the west side.

I moved to Hialeah in 1986 when I was just 6 years old and I lived five blocks away from Amelia Earhart Park on 61st and east 1st ave. It is interesting to see that Amelia Earhart field is where I went to junior high because they eventually built Hialeah Junior High which eventually became Hialeah Middle. It is fun to see how everything looked life before.
