1960's From a postcard

1960's - a packed bar at the Castaways ocean front bar, Sunny Isles

A1A south of 163rd Street, Sunny Isles, Florida

The back of this postcard says "Ocean Front Bar at America's Most FUNderful Resort Motel, Ocean and 163rd St., Miami Beach, Florida" Like a lot of other hotels on Sunny Isles, they must have put "Miami Beach" since it sounded better than "Sunny Isles?"

The back of the postcard states that B. Amadeus Rubel was the photographer and it was printed by Pan American Publishing Corporation in North Miami, Florida.

Perhaps it was called Miami Beach back then, but it was never in the city limits of Miami Beach, they never paid Miami Beach municipal taxes, never had Miami Beach police and fire services, and I seriously doubt if Miami Beach was used in the official legal property description. Plus Haulover Park, Bal Harbour and Surfside are in between Sunny Isles and Miami Beach to make it a far stretch to call it Miami Beach.
