1975 - a view from the FAA Control Tower of the hotel, parking garages and the National maintenance base

FAA Control Tower, 20th Street Terminal, Miami International

Please click on "original" below to see this image at the largest size. The roof of the Airport Hotel is in the foreground. It appears that the second parking garage on the east side is almost completed. The National Airlines maintenance base is in the background with two B747's and a slew of DC-10's parked, which indicates that National may have been on strike at the time. Also visible is the Eastern "Pea Patch" with a parked DC-9 next to the huge Eastern Air Lines employee parking lot that extended from Concourse 7 (renamed to "B" and now part of "D") eastward to the Eastern Air Cargo building that was just west of National's new B747/DC-10 hangar.
