IC1805 - The "Heart Nebula" in Cassiopeia

The young and hot members in the center of IC1805 excite the surrounding clouds of hydrogen gas with their UV-radiation.
The bright patch in the upper right corner is another bright nebulosity - IC1795.
The picture is a composite of pictures capturing the emission lines of H-alpha and OIII, emitted by ionized hydrogen and oxygen.

Modified Canon 20D mounted on a TMB 80mm/F6 + Televue 0.8x reducer/flattener. Halpha-filter: 12x600sec/ISO800; OIII-filter: 15x600sec/ISO800. Calibration and stacking, averaging, sharpening in Images Plus and Photoshop CS2. full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto
