Cruise along Slopes of Haleakala, Jan 2007 Take the route 37 from Kahului leading to the Haleakala National Park, and simply follow it, if you like all the way around Haleakala to Hana. You may take the 377 and rejoin the 37, or simply stay on the 37. The elevation is anything between 2000' and almost 3000', or 609 to 914m. Numerous attractions and stunning visuals await you along the road. Among them are Kula Town, Tedeschi Winery and outlook at Kaho`olawe and Molokini plus several incredible cinder cones and small "last gasp" craters in the vicinity of Cape Kinau`u past Makena. Route 37 ends around mile marker 20 and becomes the route 31, leading around the leeward side of Haleakala to Hana. What's missing here? Foremost the Polipoli State Park. We are sure, there is more to see and we will return. |
