May 15, 2007. I recently received this communication regarding the provenance of this billboard for those who are interested.

Hubert, This wall was first painted by Clifford Land in the 1980's with help from the TDI shop local 230. It laid dormant, fading and getting the odd paintball and graffiti disrespect it didn't deserve. The owner, Donna Karen, commissioned John Paul of Signcraft, Inc. NYC to restore the landmark. Nothing was allowed to change, just a fresh re-paint. John Paul was helped by Stefano Castronovo, an New York Muralist.
