Ever since Canada protected the Dutch royal family and helped to liberate the country in WW2, Holland has sent thousands of tulip bulbs to Ottawa every year as a gift. There is an annual tulip festival in May, and tulip bulbs sprout all around the city. Most of these were shot either at the tulip festival, or the Maplelawn Gardens, a wonderful community garden near my home.
