Today I did the experiment I talked about yesterday. I put the remote sensor in the freezer. Turns out it works just fine. I was afraid the metal shell of the fridge would interrupt the WIFI signal. The temperature matched the set point on the freezer. It took about 25 minutes for the system to come to equilibrium. Patience is a virtue.
