Pat, the National Women's Hall of Fame is opening up a museum in the mill building - that would be a great place to donate them!

I have two very old pairs "Red Jacket Hosiery" with the paper labels attached yet indicating they were made by Seneca Knitting Mills, Inc. Seneca Falls, N.Y. These were perhaps my grandfather's who spent many years hunting as a hobby. I assume they were purchased by my grandmother in Chicago, IL, which is where they lived. I intend to give them to the McHenry Co. IL Historical Society for sale in their gift shop unless their is use for them at a museum in Seneca Falls. Do you know?

This is originally the Gould Knitting Mills. The building was owned by Seneca and they only moved there after a fire in the mill on the outskirts of Seneca Falls. I used to be the Business Agent for the Local that represented the workers

I'm renovating my bathroom and in the wall was a label "Red Jacket Athletic Hose" style 1044 from Senaca Knitting Mills. I'm curious to know about what year this was produced?

Beautiful photos - thanks for sharing. I actually googled Seneca Knitting Mills because I'm getting my winter clothes out and came across a pair of my ALL TIME FAVORITE socks sill in the wrapper - Oyster Bay - made by the Seneca Knitting Mills Corp. I'm sorry to learn the mill closed down. I'm sorry many workers lost their jobs. As Americans WE MUST reclaim our power as the best manufacturing countries - and not just consume goods manufactured elsewhere. God Bless you all.

After spending a week at a NEH Landmarks of American History Workshop for Teachers held at Lowell , MA this summer, on a recent visit to SF, I found myself especially intriqued by SF and its story of canals, waterpower, and textile factories...I was impressed by its intersection of industry, technology, and women's rights. I enjoyed the small interpretive markers that line the canals, telling the story of the destruction of "The Flats" and the creation of Van Cleef Lake. This story deserves a wider audience.
