Shelter

Big Bend Ranch S.P. Texas

We accidentally found this place while 4-wheeling near Tapado Canyon, 30 years ago.
It isn't on any State Park maps, but that isn't surprising.
There are many sensitive sites - geologic and anthropologic in Big Bend Ranch which are held in secret for preservation reasons.
Back then, there was a large goat pen between the little house and the rock wall, but it has finally collapsed.

Blimey, it's barren there...imagine trying to eek out a living in the middle of the desert

Very interesting. What a life to live there and raise goats. Can't imagine it.

A fantastic find, there are probably many places like this in our vast country that share a secret past.

Very remote terrain and must have lots of hidden places
Helen Betts18-Jan-2021 20:17
Doesn't look like much of a shelter in that harsh terrain! V.

perhaps the last shelter for the Hole-In-The Roof gang...the ranchers here must have been real optimists... that's a fine comp astutely minimizing the bald blue sky..

Looks like someone went through quite a bit of trouble to build this. Why there? "V"
