I am troubled by the recent derogatory postings presuming to know where the "rainbow tree" is. I have lived in Indiana for 35 years, but I grew up near Elam Bend in Gentry County and I know that road and I know that tree, and I am privileged to be able to visit it and other places that are meaningful to me in Dan Bush's photos. I know I am not alone.

Sallie G., Do you have a clue as to what you are talking about?? Calling people names and accusing them of wrong doing? If you took the time to look over the website and then maybe you could figure out it was not stolen. People who live here in Northwest Missouri konw where this location is and could drive there and take a picture of that same tree. I think maybe you need to find out some more information other than a news story from the other side of Earth.
If you are from this area, you would know that none of these are stolen londonlad, we recognize and see these places all of the time where Dan takes his pictures.

I have to disagree with the person that said your photographs couldn't have been in Mo. I've lived in Mo. all my life and I've seen the same or simular to your pictures. If you live in the city, you may never see some of these things. Some things only happen once in a while, and if your not there with your camera then the moment is gone. Thanks for being there with your camera when we could not. We're looking foward for more in 2009.

I appreciate your view into the world via Missouri...I live in the state too, and I find it to be a very beautiful place to live. Thanks for showcasing all the wonderful, simple things that take your breath away. Like the Australian, I am so tired of the political shenanigans and prefer at times to instead just get lost in the beauty of prairie grass under the winter sun or ice storm pictures. Good way to regroup. Please post more of your biography...where you grew up, where you went to college, your background in photography, your job, your age...just curious as to what makes you look at world the way you do. Dan: Great work! Makes me home sick. I grew up in the New Hampton area ,graduated Albany Hign School and NWMSU befor leaving the state. Been trying to come home for a long time.My uncle Jerry owned the elevator across the street from the OLD BUTCHER SHOP. My Dad, his two brothers and the butcher developed turkey rolls to market ( we raised turkeys NW of New Hampton) but it was 20 years to early for the idea. Hope to meet you when I come home. There is one thing to be said about what nature has to offer, and not many people can be not only lucky enough to see images like this, but to also capture the splendor of that one moment in time when everything came together to form an awe inspiring moment...my fav is the rainbow over the tree. From one photographer to another...even I was awestruck by some of your photos. Now you just have to come up to Canada and grab some beatiful snow pics.

Your photos leave me breathless. I'm originally from Union Star but got your website from a friend in California. I love your eye and skill at composition. My current favorite is Approaching Gust Cloud but I have been fascinated by the Roll Cloud too. This webpage is awesome! The photograph I most admired was of the double rain bow with a tree in the center. My thoughts were of God's creation, heaven and earth. The tree of life was placed in the garden. The light of world shines within the rainbow. The rainbow is the symbol of God's promise. Some much said in one photograph. Awesome!

Your pictures are amazing. You spend lots of time getting them. One observation I made and you may already know it-- Ted meets the moon. It should be Fed meets the moon- as in a "Fed Ex" airplane. I wish I could take pictures like yours. Great work.

I have seen sunsets from around the United States and world. Some more beautiful than yours and others that cannot hold a candle to the ones you have taken. I used to shoot outdoors pictures of wildlife, scenery and people; most were on slides. I used a Minolta Maxxum 7000. My Lens were AF-50mm, AF 35-80, AF 100-200. I never use a fisheye lens. I also would sometimes use a 2X AF Tele-converter 4E/MC (M/AF 20-07-18) this help to bring the insects closer.
I have enjoyed looking at the wonderful shots that you have taken and will return to see if you post any new ones.

I have never seen anything quite like this. Thanks for your site, it is a real blessing to see all these amazing pictures especially the complete double rainbow at Elam Bend and those awesome mammatus clouds. They are really scary, I've never seem anything like those in the UK where I live, never want to either. I think you were very brave to even look at them. The plane and moon is another scary one. Well done.

I live in southern MO. and many times I have tried to photograph a sunset/sunrise like these but they do not turn out. What kind of set up do you use? Mine never has enough light to get a good photo.

I have grown up in Missouri and always thought that this had to be the most drab place on earth but after looking at you photos; I have relized that I have got to get out more and experience my surroundings. There has to be sights like these around my small portion of Missouri. I have to also say that these are by far the most stunning photos that I have ever seen.

I have truly enjoyed these pictures. I was born and raised in Missouri, and lived there for 26 years! I now am out of state, and I miss my homeland so much! My husband and I hope to be living again soon in the Show-Me State! Some may say a prairie is boring, but I say it's only boring for those that can't appreciate it!

I was born and grew up in Missouri, but for a period of 7 years in Ohio, I have spent my adulthood in the west (Colorado, Wyoming and Utah). I fell in love with the mountains and skies in the west, but have always loved the beauty of the outdoors anywhere. My brother forwarded the pictures of your rainbow, and I had to investigate the rest of your site.I must say that I almost cried with the emotion I felt from looking at your pictures. They transported me to places where I have sat and soaked up God's creation and brought back memories of more tranquil times. We have similar sunsets in Texas, but I have never seen such beautiful photographs! Thanks for making them available. I was sent the rainbow and had to see others! I have seen double rainbows, of course one is the reflection of the other. I have also seen complete rainbows a few times, but never both at once, and never so close as these appear. Great photos,actually gives me goosebumps looking at them. I grew up in the Harrison/Gentry county area and miss the area very much since moving away. Your pictures take me back home. Keep up the wonderful work, I'll be a regular visitor.

you have a gift that is shown so beautifully and naturally, it is obvious that you are meant to do this! words really cannot express how these photos make me feel, they are just so amazing. they make me want to visit missouri....and i probably will someday, just to catch a glimpse of what your art displays. have you considered doing a "coffee table" book!? i'd buy it!!

You've captured the ultimate with your picture of the full rainbow at Elam Bend. Everyone was talking about seeing the rainbow in town, and to see one in Feb. is pretty remarkable.
Good picture of the 100 plus year old Wayman Barn that was completely destroyed by the 04 tornado. It is so sad to drive by and no longer see a piece of history.
