Above are the histograms of the previous split image:
The furthermost left is from the original test image (bottom of split image).
The middle histogram is from the virgin scan of the printed image.
The left-most histogram is a slight tweak of the print histogram to clip the blacks similar to the original (top of split image).
The most interesting thing to me is the strange redistribution of tones seen in the red box. I suspect this is a result of out-of-gamut dark tones which were shifted by the rendering intent during printing.
