This is the result of an image that was captured off the forums at Dpreview where the OP was having problems printing too dark.

I printed the original on my Epson R1900 on Premium Photo Glossy after a quick softproof and then, to display it on the web, scanned it back into the computer using my Epson 4990.
The results are seen above where the top-most image of the split screen is the print-scan and the bottom is the original.
Obviously there are losses at every step but it is a reasonable facsimile for a VERY quick project.
Clearly the problem for the OP was the printing process...not the image itself.
