This is a relative size comparison between the first generation 35mm full frame Sony a7R and old 35mm SLR film cameras that I own.

Canon A1: The first PSAM 35mm SLR (except Canon didn't label it PSAM)
As an aside, I bought this film camera in 1978 and it still functions. I confess to a bit of retouching to cover some of the wear:)
