If you want to try this, all you need is a SLR camera and a northern latitude. In theory you want a large aperature(low numbered f-stop) and long exposure (8-30 seconds have worked for me), although surrounding conditions can vary. It involves a lot of experimenting. Don't forget to set the focus to infinity. I use 800 speed film.
If anyone wants to buy me a really nice lens, I'm accepting donations.
UPDATE: I just got a tripod and a timer, so that should help - no more using rocks and logs.
REUPDATE: Busted my tripod, now I'm using several bags of pinto beans and a small ladder.
REREUPDATE: I now have a good tripod, but will be moving south for awhile.
