There was a lot of shuffling around and this was the best I could do on the distant birds.
Note the dark bird in the right foreground and compare to the 2 DC Cormorants in the rear. The dark bill and lack of yellow at the lores are good field marks. You see occasional runt DCs but never this small. The restricted gular patch is hard to make out but the feathering extended forward of the eye on the lower mandible and this adult had molted most of the white feathering around the acute angle at the gape. The long tail and lance shaped scaps were seen well using a 40x fixed lens on an 85 mm scope. This is the 4th Neotropic at TVA Lake in Ensley Bottoms.
