Mallard - monster - 2.jpg

The Mallard in the back is twice the size of all the other Mallards. This is a MONSTER Mallard and I'm sure his mother is proud..........

The bird is a Rouen (pronounce roan)a french domestic that is said to be the predecessor of all domestic ducks. Years ago when I used to raise some poultry I had a Rouen half breed that ruled the roost and tried to breed with anything that walked or flew.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Could it be a Rouen duck?

Unbelievably huge mallard! Great to have him photographed. I suspect his daddy is even prouder.....as in, "That's my boy!"

Jeff - Absolutely awesome! I'm hoping someone will have an idea as to why he might be so large. My idea is kind of dumb, but I'll write it anyway: if it had been hatched on a pond where the folks feed the ducks, maybe it got fed some super-growth hormone feed, like some folks feed their chickens.
