F30 vs F80 EXR

The F30 (6 Mpx) easily outperforms the F80EXR (12 Mpx)in EVERY ISO, retains more image detail & less noise.
I have now returned the camera for a full refund.

I have always purchased Fuji Finepix compacts for my 'go anywhere' camera due to their high image quality, reliability and build quality. Now it seems I may have to re-think this for my next upgrade.
For now I am back to using the good old F30. Anyone thinking of buying a new Fuji....go on Ebay & get the F30, the only limiting factor is the 3x zoom compared to the new cameras offering around 10x zoom.

Thanks for this info. I just got one of these new then found a store demo for about $100 less. So glad I did not pay full price. I took my first full-price one back. I may or may not keep this camera. Will try it out in a week or so. Maybe G11 or P7000 is the way to go?

hey guy thanks for the photo comparison now im really convinced not to buy this exr 80 from fuji, can you also do a test comparison between canon A495 and this fuji 30?

Hi, I'm on the virge of buying the f80exr to replace my Canon Powershot A700 which has a broken screen (for the 2nd time). The A700 is a great camera, but has 1 huge flaw - that is flash load time, you have to wait up to 5 seconds before the flash is ready for the next shot... So I understand you do not recommend this camera f80 - which one would you recommend in the same pricerange? (I need lots of zoom and a good lens, and quality build). tnx from Belgium.

Thank you for your comparison pictures. I have tried the F200 and am dissapointed about the EXR technology, on the FujiFilm website they give example pictures that are supposed to show how good the EXR technology is but when I tried myself and compared it wasnt at all as their pictures. I guess they fake their pictures to fool us users.

I have an F31, and it is still a great camera. The sensor size on the F80EXR is a lot smaller then the F30/31 cameras. A better comparison would be with the F200EXR which has the same size sensor.

Im so glad i moved away from Fuji a year ago into G11 territory .. Had the F200 and although some great results came out, the G11 was simply a different class of use and results. Shame on Fuji for this (obvious) F80 blunter and thanks for comparisons

I wish I had seen this before acquiring mine! I though I was going crazy when comparing my 4-yr old F11 (yes, eleven) to the new F80 and getting about the same results as you're getting. Now I know I'm mentally sane ;-) Very sad, but at least sane... Thanks for the work!

Maybe your NR settings are not the same. Did you try comparing RAW vs. RAW?
