Fremont's Leather Flower

Victoria Glade Nature Conservancy Preserve

A rare variety of clematis native to Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska, it's named after explorer John C. Fremont, who is said to have discovered it. It's found in very few places and was one of the reasons the Conservancy protects Victoria Glade.

Excellent macro, and a most unusual clematis. The angle of view shows it off well. v
