Hobby Painting
by Colleen Prohaska

Lawrence, Kansas

My hobby sometimes is portrait painting with acrylics. I start with a pencil drawing on canvas board, then paint an outline, then flesh the rest in. I don't paint so much now that I have a digital camera. Once my cat leaped onto my paint palette and smeared himself with oil paints. I had to give him an immediate bath in the sink which he hated. To this day, I still have the slash mark scars from his frantic efforts to escape the bath. (I wish I had a digital camera for that event.)

Thank you Arctic! I have always liked drawing and painting faces but I'm no good at ears.

Colleen, I loved this one when I first saw it (mini challenge you hosted, I think??). You have a lot of artistic talent and it shows in your photography as well as your painting! I think this image is perfect for the theme! Great shot!

Those look really good, Colleen. You obviously have not only great talent but real drawing & painting skills. I think the baby & hand are terrific.
Too bad you didn't let the cat apply its art to canvas before the cleaning. My sympathies in any case.

Great entry for the theme - I love the way you've put the paintings together with the art supplies! It looks like you are a talented portrait painter!
