1971 - Eastern Airlines Aero Commander 500B N6291X and Lockheed JetStar 6 N12241 "WhisperStar" at Miami
Miami International Airport
Thank you to Jon Proctor for contributing this great old image. Eastern owned this Aero Commander at least four years, and used it for training, executive personnel transport, and transporting parts and mechanics to other cities if needed. It is seen next to a company Lockheed JetStar 6, N12241, complete with "WhisperStar" titling on the engine nacelles.
I remember the Eastern Aero Commander screwing up the pattern at Homested General by barging into normal operations by shooting long final approaches What the hell they were doing at an uncontrolled airport was never explained to those of us who would never think of intruding into the sacred airspace of MIA.

The Whisperstar was the subject of a highly detailed sketch based on the EAL machine that attended the Paris Airshow in the (seventies?). The Jetstar looks resplendent in Easterns Wings of Man logo and hockeystick stripes. The Aero Commander is my next subject to follow! Great photo!
Thanks for posting-
