Thank you to Ray Graflin, Charlie's son, for contributing this old image of his dad being Eastern's Santa.
Ray would like to hear from anyone who knew his dad. You can contact him at RGraf214@aol.com . According to Ray, Charlie Graflin got on with Eastern in 1953 as a baggage handler and rose to become overhaul manager and finally Vice President of the Jet Engine Overhaul center until he retired. Ray was off in the Army the whole time his dad was at Eastern so Ray missed seeing his dad's career firsthand. Ray says his dad was an old buddy of Captain Eddie, possibly back when his dad was a barn stormer around the country and that Eddie took him on as a baggage handler until he could fit him in to the right position. He says his dad retired in the mid to late 1970's and was then retained as a consultant after that. He also says that his dad spent time in Derby, England as an advisor when they were designing and building the RB-211 engine which was used on Eastern's L1011's.
