My family moved into 442 E 56th Street in 1950 as an 11 year old. That area was built by Mackle Brothers in 1949. Fifty-Sixth street pretty much aligned with the east west runway at Masters Field. I can remember watching the Navy aircraft landing and dreaming of being in the planes. I did later become a military pilot flying for 24 years and I am still flying at age 76. My flying dreams began adjacent to Amelia Earhart Field and I'm still dreaming. Hialeah holds many fond memories for me.
