I met Mrs. Kayal numerous times in the 1957 to 1966 time frame when I grew up next door to one of her sons, Gene Kayal and his family on W. 9th Lane in the Palm Springs section of Hialeah. She always had some delicious Syrian food item(s) to share and I fell in love with her Shelal Syrian cheese, a salty white cheese made up of strands of cheese woven together. As I recall she was the matriarch of the Syrian community in Miami. I attended her funeral at St. Jude Catholic Church in the late 1990's.
