One of the best meteor showers each year, the Geminids put on a great show on the night of 13 to 14 December, 2015. With the Moon out of the way and blessed with a crisp Winter night, I counted over 100 meteors per hour! Their average brightness was quite low though, so only a fraction were captured on the camera that I had running from 10pm till 4am. I was observing and tending my camera all night, at a temperature of -4°C. The spectacle easily kept me warm!
The background star image is a panorama of 3 portrait-oriented pictures (iso 2000, f/4, 25s each), and the foreground landscape a panorama of 2 landscape-oriented pictures (iso 800, f/4, 130s each). The meteor trails were copied in from 26 individual frames out of the 693 (!) frames captured in total (all at iso 2000, f/2.8, 25s, 11mm).
