As a committed Australian, I would recommend the Great Ocean Road to be included in the itinerary of any visitor from overseas planning a tour of this country. Hire a car and allow plenty of time (we didn't), so that you can explore all the turnoffs to lookouts over the coast, take care on the bendy bits, and still get somewhere to sleep before dark (we didn't). And take notice of the signs that warn you as you return to the main road to "drive on the left in Australia." There must be a reason for these signs; I haven't seen them anywhere else.
