Estuve del 24 al 28 de Diciembre de 2012, me gusto mucho ver todo lo que exponen los residentes, desde artesanias de todo tipo hasta su comida, las muy famosas gorditas con rellenos, choriquesos, etc. Primero estuvimos en Querétaro, Querétaro, en la plazuela de la Iglesia, nos hospedamos y al dia siguiente nos hospedamos en Bernal, de ahí nos trasladabamos a Tequisquiapan, San Juan del Rio, Pedro Escobedo y de vuelta a la Peña de Bernal, y la verdad la pase con mi familia muy bien, se los recomiendo.

Great photos! My wife and I are considering retiring in a small colonial town in Mexico. We have never been to Bernnal.Does anyone have any ideas on how expensive it would be there. Our only source of income is social security and it's not much. I would appreciate hearing from someone. Maybe you can recommend another place.

If you visit Pena de Bernal do not stay at the CASONA DE LOS RECUERDOS hotel,they will surely deceive you.Be very careful.Alberto.

I'm from Queretaro, Ezequiel Montes, and I'm so proud of Bernal la Peña an the Villa de Bernal. One of my ancestor Captain Alonzo Cabrera along with three of his sons and ay least seven more spaniards soldier stablished. A Presidio (fort) in order to protect the gold mines of the region, from the Pames and Jonaces Indians And this was the Origen of the Villa de Bernal

Your posts on Lonely Planet (TT) and website have been a source of help for me with the fabulous bus system around Central Mexico in the past, and your photos of Bernal and the Sierra Gorda missions have been one of my major motivators for my next trip - to finally rent a vehicle and explore solo around that region!

If all goes as planned, I'll be there around this time one week from today!

Greetings from Bernal!
My wife and children and I have lived here in Bernal for 5 years now. We have climbed the Peña many times. There are several options on the hotels here. Priced from $US30 to $US150 There are bungalows and old historic places. There are no modern 5 star hotels. The politics of the local government is to keep Bernal very low key and authentic old Mexico as possible. Bernal is a special place on the map to us. I would recommend visiting on the weekends only as week days are too quiet around here and half of the shops are closed on week days. We are here working with Bernal Bible Church (Iglesia Biblica de Bernal).

I am going to Bernal tomorrow by tour from san miguel, and will get off to stay overnight. Would you recommend a hotel? I found the Hotel Medieval and the Parador Vernal, and the Tsaya. Are any good? Are there taxis to get around? Any good restaurants or local contacts? Thanks.

Great pictures and quite funny story of your arrival. I live in Queretaro and love this place. For JB if you are in Texas, you can fly directly to Queretaro with Continental, bus from the city to Bernal, less than $3.00USD, the rest... priceless

I met a man today on my job in Texas from Bernal. He is American and moved there to live an he was telling me about the mountain and the energy.
He told me to look on the internet and I found your pictures. They are AWESOME!!!!!!! I want to go there now.
Is it expensive to go and where is the closet airport to get there?

Awesome gallery - my wife and I visited Peña de Bernal (or more specifically, Quiahuiztlan) in 1999. Our brief stop in Veracruz and the surrounding area was by far the most memorable of the whole week-long trip, which took us down to Cozumel. I especially like your photos of the town!
