Our Lady before Tưn

Prague, Czech Republic view map

Church of Our Lady in front of Tưn on Old Town Square
After reformer Jan Hus was martyred in 1415, his followers met in this church and practiced an early form of protestantism for 200 years. What was once a golden chalice (a symbol of Hus' belief that the communion cup should not be withheld from the laity) was melt down and recast as an image of Virgin Mary by the Jesuits during the Counter-Reformation in the 1620s.
