His photo was taken from Concourse 5 (now Concourse D) and faces northeast towards Concourse 6 (now Concourse C), which has palm trees on the east side. The Eastern Air Lines ramp tower is prominent, along with the Eastern maintenance base in the background on the other side of runway 9L-27R. Great shot for the period!
